About Poetically Spoken

Poetically Spoken is one of our partners, she has a radio show in which people are able to speak their poetry and share their art with everyone. Stay tuned to her show and participate! Share and read your poetry and don’t forget to mention that you are a part of The New Writers.

A woman with a pen that ignites flaming imagery, Poet/Radio Show Host, POETICALLY SPOKEN, has proven to set fires from her pen..that cannot be put out. She finds peace when expressing herself uninhibitedly. Often times flirting with metaphors and creative word play. She has been perfecting her writing ability over the past several years and challenges herself to release her emotions and thoughts from the most honest places within.. determined to heal not only self..but also others.

POETICALLY SPOKEN has an infectiously positive energy that is witnessed not only in her poetry but also in her presence. Driven by her strength, love and passion, she vows to only create work that represents herself and her own style. As she so humbly puts it, “I am dipped in authenticity and have discovered that it is most rewarding to write from my rhythm and my undying beats”

Between her intoxicating poetry, alluring presence and sensual voice, I’d say you will become an admirer of her quality work too, if you haven’t already.

Welcome to the world of POETICALLY SPOKEN

When I am gone ~ David Williams

When I am gone, release me,
Let me go I have so many things to see and do.
You mustn’t tie yourself to me with tears,
Be happy that we had so many years.
I gave you my love, you can only guess
How much you gave to me in happiness.
I thank you for the love you each have shown,
But now it’s time I traveled on alone.
So grieve a while for me, if grieve you must,
Then let your grief be comforted by trust.
It’s only for a while that we must part
So bless the memories within your heart.
I won’t be far away, for life goes
For if you need me, call and I will come.
Though you can’t see or touch me, I’ll be near,
And if you listen with your heart,
You’ll hear all of my love around you soft and clear.
And then, when you must come this way alone,
I’ll greet you with a smile and “Welcome Home”.

So calm the sea today ~ Amber Breeze

So calm the sea today
mountain waves touch the sky
quietly
silently bathing in the shining sun
some clouds pass,
inadvertently cropping the blue
breeze..
a wandering gull calls
the sleepy bay returns the echo

Talking to your soul ~ Nandita Thakor

It was a beautiful morning. Sunrays dancing on the top of the trees were visible from my window. I could as if breathe in the light! The smile of nature, warmth of God’s love for us. I closed my eyes and inhaled the joy of new dawn and that’s when I started talking to my soul.

When was it last when I really stopped for a few minutes to enjoy a new morning of my life? When was it last when I admired the miracles of universe and felt thankful for them? When was it last that when I have shown my gratitude to Him for showing me a new day of my life-giving me infinite opportunities to do something new, something profound?

I didn’t have answers. Is it only because I am too busy doing my worldly duties? Or is it because I am taking all these for granted? Or simply because I don’t have an ‘eye’ to see these things ? Yes, I felt it only when I started talking to my soul.

I have too many responsibilities in life. Too many duties to fulfill. Too many problems to solve and too many things to take care of. But why should all that stop me from halting for a few moments and inhale the new sun? Why should that stop me from feeling the gentle breeze on my face, on my heart-at any time of the day? Why should I be stopped from touching those smooth drops of rain and enjoy seeing them flowing away in nothingness?
Nah, I guess I don’t have any reason not to do those things. All I have-are excuses! Life is too busy, too hectic-agreed! Life has too many challenges, agreed! Life has too many demands from us-true..!

But then when will we have time to touch our souls?

As I started talking to my soul, I realized that it doesn’t really take that much to do so. Each day bring in new promises, bring in new opportunities. Each day the sun is there for us, shining bright, spreading light and warmth.

Each night the moon and stars are there to cover us under their gentle blanket making us cozy. And each day HE is watching over us, taking care of us, guiding us at every step of the life, all the while showering us with the gifts of beauty, love and compassion.

Talking to my soul has taught me this.

Let’s learn to breathe! Let’s learn to stop for a moment to enjoy, admire and appreciate being alive! Lets learn to listen to that inner music which has no sound and yet the sweetest melody! Lets learn to look within and understand what we are, what we can do-for ourselves and others. Let’s spread love. Let’s spread light. Lets spread little joys of our ‘being’ and lets be grateful!

Life is tough, but beautiful. Life is harsh but warm. Life is full of pains but it has more than enough love to offer. Let’s feel it, enjoy it and spread it, Everyday stopping for a few moments to talk to our soul.

Am doing it now. Will you?

You’re like me, and I am like you
There is no difference, this so true
We only have one world to live in so this you can be rest assured
Love is more than a plain ordinary four letter word. ~ Pat Berardini

“Your Love Embraces My Heart” ~ Mikaela Kayl

Your love embraces
My heart
And lifts it up
In the open air.

I love you
As the waves from the sea rinses
Over the narrow shore and the cliffs.
Like the dew
On the rosebuds leafs,
The dove in the sky
Or the rainbow
Against the rainy clouds.

Nevertheless I long for you
Your voice
Touching my soul
With its tender words.

“Genuine poetry can communicate before it is understood” ~ T S Eliot

Reawakened ~ Steve Robison

He was recreated by the great creator
Abiding within his contrite and softened heart
Flew among the soaring hawks
Sang the ancient lessons of angels’ flowing art

Awakened in the quiet awakening
Storms moved his soul to truly change
Sought solace in the winds of forever
And wisdom in the healing rains

Wandered quite far from the path
Yet, the changed man still exists
As he walks into the tempering blaze
He grasps that love still persists

A time of great renewal
Greets his softened heart
Come feast upon his magic
Enjoy his heartfelt art

About Romantic Shorts

As a writer and friend of writers, RomanticShorts.com founder Alexandra Brown is keenly aware of the difficulty authors face in finding a publisher to consider their work. As the publisher of this new online venture – a website that will feature a daily romantic short story for the busy reader – the biggest surprise has been the difficulty she’s faced in finding writers! Mysterious Garden ~ Jeffrey Saphr-Summers

Labyrinth of Time ~ Shannon Gures

The Labyrinth of Time
holds many a rhyme
Gathers dust that falls
through the hourglass of life
Over the eons many that
pass through revolving door
continuing as before
to live again
some heal while others sin
Matters not if you believe
what faith or religion you conceive
Still will be as it’s always been

The best way to write a book is by living life ~ The New Writers

There was a day ~ Sarah Stuart

There was a day in which you were born and the stars have shone brighter than the other days in which they shone and shone… but not like the day in which the sea was melting and pouring loving drops of essences from distant lands in the eyes of children that playing searched and found many hidden worlds in the corners of a playground.

there was a day in which the sun has smiled more intensively ever yellower than all the other days and that day was the day in which the light inside of you glittered to illuminate the whole portion of the Universe from where you came, and so traveling many galaxies you have found home… here, on earth, here close to me.

there was a day like any other day but not like any other day in which i have forgotten to tell you the words i haven’t said and i forgot to hold you the way i have should, but in that day the moon was watching and has sent you bright rays to remind you humans sometimes forget what they care about the most.

there was a day, but not a day, there were many days but not like many days, just one maybe, in which i have seen in your eyes the secrets of worlds and in them there was the answer to everything there has ever been and will ever be. on that day the mountains grew taller and the seas were temperamental like i am sometimes but not many times, not as many as i used to, the rivers ran deeper and the cities got busier and the nature was calmer and peacefully everything stopped.

for an instant
maybe two.
on that day.

there was a day in which i have found. within me the key for happiness and that key passed through you to be lost in the edges of parallel universes that now blossom on the minds of those who love. that was the day in which you were born. that was the day in which i have fallen in love for you eternally knowing we would have to walk many paths, spend many lonely nights before we could land each other’s eyes on the other, smiling realizing, we are, have been, will be always one and the same as we have always been together and time… undefinable could never overcome the feeling that burns in our hearts. that day, on that day, the stars have shone a little longer, a little brighter and i have dreamed with you while you quietly, secretly, beautifully dreamed with me.

Russell Johnson (1st poem of his life)

Into the darkness
my story of you

Into the darkness
I dive into two

Into the darkness
where i forget my name
until i remember
all stories are the same.

Oneness and Peace ~ Rosemary Hurwitz

I lie here as the aged Yoga teacher illustrated, with my arms and legs outstretched as wide as they will go.
I imagine connecting with every star in the snowy sky. Blurring us all together, we are like a blank white page.
Now, I won’t know where I begin or end and I won’t know where anyone begins or ends, (because I don’t.) This blank white star page looks like nothing, and it is; it is because the stars are just like us and do you know what we are?
We are atoms and when looked at very carefully, atoms are no thing; 99% nothing.
No thing –just like the blank page of stars.
This blank white stretch of no thing ness is a beautiful canvass upon which I can create whatever I want. I want to remember EVERY NEW MINUTE this white no thing ness that is the whole of all of us, for it is here in the starry blurred together sky that I know who I am.

Mother ~ Rosalind Cherry

Love of a child towards her Mother: To see the same little girl day in and out looking so happy and surprise when she reached up to the blinds of the window to take a peak to look at her mother wonderful. She was so happy when she was able to be with her mother smiles and making cute and funny face. All that you could see was the same looks just like her mother. A mother job is to love share and care taking time to fix her up loving every mother oh what the joys that bring to her beautiful daughter there she was dancing in front of the door as the music was loud in a driving car.Her eyes lit up like she was so happy and laughing when she kept making her funny faces trying to talk and explain counting number and knowing her name and the very day she was born. There was love all around her not to mention if she fell how her mother took her in her arms and kissed her she would say it’s alright your Mother right here she would check her from head to toe then rock her to sleep never wanting to let go she was indeed a true loving mother.Life lessons of being strong and to protect is a blessing for any ones child. And a happy child show in all in their faces special moments like the beach or the park or taking them to the mall was the excitement in the eyes of a child. The mother knows one day her child shall grow up but for now she shall always keep her child close to her and let that love grow and grow what a wonderful way to raise your child. Hugs love and kisses it’s all a way for a child to live to day. Yes the love of a child towards her mother now it time for hide and seek but you can bet that mother will enjoy each and every day so much love to give the wonderful life of a devoted mother. That little girl is one lucky child God bless the both of them for a life time. Priceless. To all of the Mothers God bless you and keep you.

One Sock ~ Robert Gibbons

the breath just left her
blowing her
pink bubble gum
it pops
never to inflate again
never a chance to dream
never journal with rose
or lavender purple pens
never the chance to
procrastinate or gossip
to her friends in school
never a chance to become
Michelle Obama or
Sonia Sotomayor
never a chance to manicure
only the rape of the streets
as the bubble recedes
in her mouth
her lithe body left
in some hallway
in this vast landscape
only an amber alerts
as she lay exposed
strips down to the basics
where she began
where we will end
only the mute of a cornet
only one socks remains
